Last Saturday Heath watched the kids while I went to Women's Conference. It was soo Wonderful! It isn't like me to get up early Saturday morning, drive 45 minutes away to a new place all alone. But I was so Glad I did! I almost gave up because I was lost! After stopping at 7 gas stations no one knew of the place so I called Heath and said, Can't find it I'm heading home!" "No your not I'll go pull it up on the computer and stay on the phone with you till you find it." It wasn't long until Heath guided me into the parking lot and out I ran with my note book in hand.
It was amazing! I learned so much and walked away wanting to be a Better Wife, Mother, Sister, and Friend. One of the things that we learned about was Finding Humor in Life. Something I could work on. I often find myself saying that's not funny now hurry up and clean your room. Or Stop laughing and lets get your homework done. When what I need to do is Sit and Laugh a while before we tackle the rooms or homework.
Barbra (the speaker) told a story about a family of 5 kids that went on vacation. While they were gone the alarm at the house went off. The police came over to check things out and the next door neighbor came over and walked through the house along side the police. When the neighbor got back to her home she called the family to tell them the alarm went off and some one had vandalized the house and it was pretty bad. A couple days latter when the family got home from the trip they pulled in the drive way to be greeted by the neighbor. She followed the family in the house and began to apologize for the mess. As the Mom looked around the house she couldn't see anything that looked vandalized, she saw kids toys, shoes, books... the norm. But she didn't want the neighbor to know this is the way her house looked when she left, yea this is a mess, then She tried to scoot the neighbor out before her Husband finished bringing in the luggage to discover the same thing. As they approached the front door they were met by the husband. Once again the neighbor began saying sorry and point out things to the husband. They husband began to laugh out loud and said, "This is great this is just how we left the house. "His wife nearly died.. red faced and embarrassed she hugged the neighbor and helped her out the door.
I could relate to this... yesterday we got a knock at the door. My back has been out and I had been laying flat in bed with Millie and Maizie by my side. I hadn't moved out of bed until the door bell rang. I wasn't even going to get it until Maizie had the door open. So I quickly moved to the door knowing my house could be awfully scary. At the door stood the UPS man with a big box for Heath in hand. He said, "this is Heavy so I will bring it in." I quickly scanned the front door to see everything he could see. This is what he saw. Plus a lovely view of me with out make-up in my PJ's. He quickly said, "Don't worry I have a messy house myself that's what happens when we have kids." What a cute man for understanding! He must have felt my pain when he saw, babies, books, crackers and crayons all over the floor. I smiled and told him thank you, shut the door and wanted to hang Maizie by her toes over the stairs but instead I tried to find Humor in the Situation. I asked her why they had colored on the floor for and she began to tell me about the Art classes she was having with Millie. It looked Fabulous and we kept in on the floor for a couple hours to admire the Great art work!

Heath, Thanks for watching the kids and letting me go. Thanks for your Great Navigating Skills!

Humour is an element that adds spice to life and without which may be life would have been very difficult to spend. But contrary to what many people believe, http://www.besthealthmed.com/humour.html humour is not all about smiling and laughing, though it caters to these fields mainly. Humour is actually the capability to see the lighter side of life, sometimes even in a serious environment. But this lighter view of life should be done intelligently. Slapstick humour is no humour at all, it is just trash.
